Career Change Dogs

Our career change dogs are highly trained, intelligent dogs that have been released from our program for minor behavioral or temperamental reasons that make them unsuitable for service work. These well-behaved dogs are available for adoption, offering an opportunity to adopt a well-trained family companion.

Dog Availability

We appreciate your interest in adopting a JLAD dog!

We are excited about the possibility of helping you find your perfect companion. As dogs become available, we will post them on this page. If dogs are not currently available, we encourage you to submit an application so that we can begin the process of finding a suitable companion for you and your family.

GUNNER [pending]

Breed: Labrador Retriever
Weight: 65 lbs

Gunner is a 4½-year-old who was career-changed a few years ago and is now looking for a new home. He has been living his best life in the country and would thrive with an active family that has space for him to roam and explore.

Gunner is a devoted companion who loves nothing more than snuggling with his people and playing a good game of fetch. He’s also happy to alert you when squirrels are nearby! Gunner would do best with a confident handler who can provide clear guidance and structure.

He can do well with other dogs if he’s able to take the lead and has previously lived successfully with both children and cats. With the right family, Gunner will make a loyal, fun-loving partner for many adventures.

ARCHIE

Breed: Mixed
Weight: 89 lbs

Archie is a sweet dog who is 2 years and 8 months old and is looking for his forever home. He loves spending time with his people and has a gentle, loving personality.

Archie is wonderful on walks and enjoys getting out to explore, though he can be a bit unsure in busy public settings and will thrive with a patient family who can help build his confidence. He does well with other dogs when given the opportunity for proper introductions and time to get acquainted.

One of Archie’s favorite things in the world is playing with squeaky toys, and he’s always ready for a fun play session. He has also successfully lived with a cat and has shown that he respects feline boundaries.

Archie would make a loyal and devoted companion for a family willing to give him the love, patience, and security he deserves.
